i'm sitting in the window of greater trumps, drinking a hammerhead and smoking an exquisite padron cigar. i got kicked out of the house tonight because it's ladies night. something about a potluck and 12 crazy ladies. estrogen overload.
i was working on some music copying for bandleader whom i have an upcoming gig with. the charts he gave me are shruken down by roughly 50%. he wants them enlarged, and on separate parts for a gig that's coming up. basically it entails me entering the notation into sibelius. i've got no midi setup, and i'm working on a laptop. this means i have no numeric keypad. i'm reduced to hitting the Fn key to simulate the numeric keypad. it's darker than hell in here and i keep hitting the wrong damn keys. my half notes are turning into quarters, sharps into flats and all sorts of chaos. the first chart i attempted was a nightingale sang in berkely square. after entering a few lines of notation it looked like a schoenberg arrangement instead of a frank mantooth chart. not good.
after a serious round of cursing under my breath, and some healthy glugs of beer, i realized what a dipshit i am. all i need to do is take the charts home, scan them, resize them and save them to pdf. no hassle and a modicum of work. i can also charge the bandleader a much more reasonable fee.
